Alison was born and raised in Bulawayo, Rhodesia, which is now called Zimbabwe, in Southern Africa. At high school her favourite subject was arts and crafts, (basket weaving, life drawing, still-life painting, and fabric design and dying), but she didn't pursue this interest until later in life. At the age of 20 she decided to set off on an adventure which ultimately is still continuing to this day. After spending 9 years in England where she met her late husband, they set off for Greece.
